LABOUR DEPARTMENT  

 

The office of the District Labour Officer, Rayagada deals with enforcement of various labour lews, handling of Industrial Disputes, maintenance of industrial peace and redressal of grievances of the working class employed in both Rural and Urban areas of Rayagada district.

ENFORCEMENT OF MINIMUM WAGES ACT

The Government of Orissa have revised the Minimum rate of wages for workers engaged in 83 nos of scheduled employment including Agriculture Sector with effect from 1.1.02. The field officers of Rayagada District conducted 550 nos of inspections in agriculture secor for implementation of revised rate of minimum  rate of wages. Similarly 185 nos of inspections conducted in other scheduled of employment out of which 18 nos.  of cases were detected that the payment made to the workers engaged by them less then the rate fixed by the Government. 10 nos. of Claim cases have been filed against the employer emounting Rs. 53883 for 56 workers and 2 os. of prosecutions filed against the employer who have violated the provisions of Minimum Wages Act 1948, other cases are under process. Necessary steps are being taken for the implementation of revised minimum rate of wages in all sector of Rayagada District.

 

      In addition to this, the field officers have conducted inspections and have filed prosecutions under various labour laws the details are furnished below.

DISPOSAL OF COMPLAINS

 

      This office has dealt with 91 nos of complaints, out of which 62 nos of complaints are disposed by the field officers and an amount of Rs. 88947/- paid to the 50 nos of workers and remaining 29 nos of complaints are under process.

 

I.S.M.W.(R.E. & C.S) ACT

 

      Necessary steps are being taken for plight migration of labour to work out side the the State. Field officers are conducting necessary tour to the migration prone areas and contacting the Block Officials and Chairman and other members of village committee about the illegal recruitment of labourers by the unlicensed contractors/Agents. However the filed Officers have filed 13 nos of prosecutions against the unlicenced contractors for illegal drafting of labours to work out side the State.

 

INDUSTRIAL DISPUTE ACT

 

      7 Nos of disputes are admitted in the conciliation proceedings under the industrial Dispute Act 1947, during the peiod, out of which 5 nos of conciliation proceedings are settled and pending two number of conciliation are under process. Necessary steps are being taken for early disposal.

 

STEPS TAKEN FOR PREVENTION OF HEAT WAVE

 

      Necessary insptruction have issued to the different private sector undertakings, Block Development Officers of Rayagada district and all the Executive Engineers to rescheduled the working hours of workers and to provide rest shed, medical facility and suffcient drinking water at work place.
